Granulated Coatings

Granulated coatings are a dry form of refractory coating that can be prepared on-site before use, ensuring the coating is always fresh. By adding water and mixing under high shear, the coating is easily transformed into a premix. This process eliminates the need to ship water, significantly reducing freight costs.

Key Benefits of Granulated Coatings

  • Always fresh coating
  • Freight savings: One truck of granulated coating equals two trucks of premix
  • Fewer truckloads are required to move the material
  • No tanker endorsement required
  • Reduced corporate carbon footprint
  • More warehouse space
  • Easy cleanup: Consistency similar to potting soil; just sweep it up

Granulated Coating Systems: From Semi-Manual to Fully Automated

  • Compact Option: This option is ideal for newcomers to granulated coatings. It is quick to install and has a 360-volt connection. It offers gravity feed or pump-out options and requires manual product addition.

  • Premium Option: Fully automated—hang the super sack and press the button to start.

  • Elite Option: This is similar to Premium but with added features such as a PLC for process monitoring. It can be integrated with coating bulk storage and dip tanks for a seamless process.

Learn about Refractory Coatings

A good refractory coating can bring significant value to your operation through improved surface finish or reduced cleaning costs. Refractory coatings are a complex mixture of ingredients in which each plays a part in the final product's application characteristics, stability, surface finish, resistance to cast defects, and cost. Be sure to contact your HAI sales representative to determine which coating best fits your foundry's needs.
